second summary

According to Elizabeth Bell in this book “From Mouse To Mermaid”, The author described the topic of female figures in Disney films and how they were created at first. Bell stated the people who animate and draw the pictures of the heroines created the standard of how beautiful women should be such as Snow White, Cinderella, Ariel, etc. seem to be young females with ideal height and weight, but the villains such as Snow White’s stepmother and Ursula are more like “middle-aged” females and they are old, fat, and gentle women. (Bell, p108) Bell observed that when Disney first created movies, they got inspiration from classical ballet dancers, so that is one of the reasons why there are soft singing and dancing in their movies. The writer claimed that Disney has given a definition to young audience of the wonderful dream of being princesses and is a great goal. Also, Bell stated that the villains of the movies always have dark music in background, and Disney artists draw them to have same effect of animals such as wolves, and bats to give fear. The author concluded Disney makes middle-age females have a stereotype that society does not welcome them and they are isolated people.

Hi, Janice, How are u ???
You changed your topic, and i think this topic is more interesting than the last one.......:) Your topic is female figures in Disney films. when i heard the topic, i didn't get the meaning of that, i didn't know what that mean. After u told us and explained to us, i understand now, and i felt so interesting........
u said the author talked about how to create the characters in Disney Film, such as snow white and Cinderella, those kind of characters should be pretty and young and know to to dance and sing. The people who create those films, they got the idea from ballet dancers. i didn't know this before, but now i know, haha, i learned something new.....:P they also create a lot of evil people or villains, those people should be ugly, old and fat.The film always create those characters that way, so they lead the audience to the wrong direction, because a lot of kids think that if they are pretty, they can solve any problems. i love this topic , it's so interesting. i hope i can hear more details next time...............:)

Hi, Janice. Your topics are always lovely, this one is even more lovely. To be honest, this is the first time I ever heard about people study on this topic. And you really told me a lot about the female figures in Disney films. If you haven't stated, I would hardly realize their similar figures. One thing that really surprised me is that the creaters' inspiration come from classical ballet dancers, I would never connect them with ballet if I didn't read your summary.Another thing is that Disney has given a definition to young audience of the wonderful dream of being princesses and is a great goal, it's totally a mislead I think and the parents should realize the problem and help their children well. In conclusion, I'd like to say that I really like your topic, although I don't watch a lot of Disney movies.Thank you.
